The use of pebble as a pool interior was first perfected over 20 years ago in Australia. It was primarily developed as a structurally superior alternative to marble and cement renders, but over the years has evolved to become an incredibly popular and versatile product.
The idea originated from studies which showed that pool decks created from exposed aggregate in Australia seemed to stay in "mint" condition for an incredibly long period of time - over 20 years. The positive aspects of that technology were adapted to pool interiors, resulting in a stronger, longer - lasting and more beautiful surface.
The successful application of a Pebble Tec® or Pebble Sheen® brand pool finishes onto a concrete shell is very fast and even large domestic pools can be completed in a single day.
The interior can be produced in a large range of colours to give stunning effects and an incredibly natural look.
The finish is slip resistant so beach walk - ins, pebble copings and small terrace areas can also be finished in pebble.
There is no limit to shape or design.
The finish is harder and therefore more durable than any other pool interior. Pebble samples have been tested and shown to have crush strength of up to 80 MPa, which is twice as strong as common concrete.
The Pebble Tec® Pebble Sheen® pool finish is applied directly onto the concrete shell, no render coat is required and the adhesion is total. Pebble interiors never need re-grouting, they are waterproof and, if applied correctly to a properly prepared shell, will not delaminate from the pool shell.
